Contract Assembly - Quote

  • What information do I need to provide to quote my PCB assembly project? You need to provide us with:

    Quote Phase
    Quantity
PCB design files (e.g. gerbers, NC drill data etc.)
    BOM (Bill of Material)
MPN or supplier part no is mandatory; Download sample BOM here

List of components, if you are going to supply
Special Requirements, if any (e.g. conformal coating)
Assembly drawings or picture of already assembled boards, if available (optional).

Order Phase Pick and Place File (for automatic SMT assembly)
Polarity Detail (QualiEco to supply format to fill up)
Designator Drawing in PDF, if available (optional but very helpful)
  • What should I include in a BOM (Bill of Material)? Any BOM should, ideally, have the following information:

    Mandatory Reference designators (e.g. R1, C5, U4 etc.)
    MPN (Manufacturer Part No)
Qty (i.e. number of identical parts used per board)

Optional Part Name (e.g. resistor, capacitor, diode etc)
Part Description (e.g. polarized capacitor, Zener diode)
    Part Value (e.g. 1 µF, 16 V, ± 10%, X7R)
    Footprint (e.g. 0603_1608)
Vendor Name (e.g. Digikey, Mouser, element14 etc.)
    Vendor Part Number
    Any other information
  • How long does a PCB assembly quote take to prepare? 1-2 working days, provided there is no query from our component procurement and PCB assembly team.

If we have query regarding your part or its availability or if we have any other assembly related doubts, we may take extra time to quote. In any case, we will be in touch with you throughout the quote process.
  • Why do you need the silk screen gerber layer for assembly? The silkscreen layer normally includes POLARITY information and reference designators for parts. From diodes and polarized capacitors to QFNs and BGAs, orientation is critical. If your CAD system is 'weak' in calling out the rotation, then the visible information contained in the silk is our best check.

You may also provide part locations in other formats like pdf file, assembly drawings or picture files. However, actual silk screen layer in gerber is always preferable.

PCB Design Tips

When designing a PCB, try to limit the amount of draws you use. Draws use a lot of memory and slow the programming time. Use a flash for pads instead.
